BackgroundSince 2002, the Florida International University Scholarship Fishing Tournament is a unique fundraising event benefiting the FIU Alumni Association's Scholarship Fund. Funds are raised through sponsorships and boat registration. Scholarships include the Legacy Scholarship, awarded to students whose parents, grandparents or siblings are graduates of the university and the Panther Pride Scholarship awarded to students demonstrating outstanding involvement in campus life and activities. The cost is $350 boat with a maximum of four (4) anglers and $50 for each additional angler in the same boat. The tournament is for Dolphin, however, prizes are also given for the biggest fun fish, which include Wahoo, Tuna, or Kingfish.
