Fifth Annual SoBe Wine & Food Festival coming to town

The deadline to receive an Alumni Association discount on tickets has passed, but don’t let that deter you from checking out one of the nation’s top wine and food festivals in our own backyard on Friday-Sunday, February 24-26, 2006. Tickets can be purchased at the regular price by visiting the Festival website at www.sobewineandfoodfest.com or calling 877-762-3933.

Event highlights include Bobby Flay cooking up a champagne-drenched, beachside barbecue; Wine Spectator’s “Best of the Best” reserve tasting at the Fontainebleau Resort; a tribute dinner in honor of Spain’s most-renowned and inventive chef, Ferran Adria; the signature Grand Tasting afternoons, featuring the cuisine of dozens of South Florida restaurants, wine and spirits from around the globe and demonstrations by Emeril Lagasse, Rachael Ray, Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis and many others; a poolside dessert party led by sugar’s grande dames; and even a chance for the littlest of budding young cooks to learn how to prepare a dish or two from the Food Network’s biggest stars.

Receive a 50 percent discount off business conference entry fee

Organizers of the Customer Relationship Management Conference for the Caribbean and Latin America are inviting FIU Alumni Association members to attend this important conference at the Colonnade in Coral Gables on February 15-17, 2006. This will be a wonderful forum to share experiences, network and leave with a framework for the creation of a successful customer-retention strategy.

The conference will highlight real case problems that companies survived in Latin America and the Caribbean, and explain how those dilemmas were solved. Speakers such as Fred Newell, Professor Katherine Lemon and global consultant and author Brian Wolf are among the list of distinguished speakers who will be present to discuss the latest CRM strategies. CRMC CALA represents a great opportunity to meet important new contacts and learn from regional peers.

FIU Alumni Association members will automatically receive 50 percent off the registration fee.

Please visit the web site www.customersforever.com to register or for more information. Please use FIU06 as the registration code to receive the 50 percent off discount. For questions, please contact Alejandra Navas of Imagen, The Marketing Agency, at 305-774-9443 (Ext.22) or Alejandra@imagentma.com.

Want more FIU Gear?

Your university is hard at work negotiating with the following local retail outlets to make FIU gear more accessible to South Florida alums, all 77,000 of us.

Five Champs locations now carry FIU merchandise:

  • Dadeland Mall
  • Miami International Mall
  • Aventura Mall
  • Southland Mall
  • Pembroke Lakes Mall
Foot LockerWal-Mart. Always Low Prices. Always.
Champs SportsHome Page

One way to ensure wider availability of our merchandise, from a grass roots level, is to have alumni interested in purchasing FIU merchandise at any of these locations let the management know.

If you would like to buy FIU gear, let the management know you are interested, or ask them when they will be carrying our merchandise.

Let's work together to promote Panther Pride.
