In 2007, FIU alumna Onica Charles founded International Children’s Outreach (ICO), a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring the joy in the lives of children facing poverty. As part of the group’s efforts, Charles led groups of students this past March who have chosen to have an alternative spring break. Instead of partying, they spent their break making a difference for the children of Campbell’s Trust Nursery School in Guyana by giving their school a facelift and upgrading their playground. This is one of many efforts by ICO to help underprivileged children around the world. Click here to learn more about their efforts.
