Donor Spotlight

Learning and Delivery Manager, Wyndham Hotel Group
What do you love most about FIU and your involvement here?
What I love most about FIU is the continuous reach from the faculty. Also, all the different opportunities of financial aid provided to the students. Last I will mention I love the diversified number of programs available to students and the global reach the University has.
Why do you think giving back is important to the advancement of FIU and its students?
Education is the greatest gift of all. I was recently in their shoes and I was helped financially through scholarships. It’s about giving back and not breaking the chain of giving to other Panthers.
Where has life taken you since graduating from FIU?
It has taken me to three different great global hotel companies, to NYC and back to Miami. It has been a fun ride that keeps on going fast and furious!
Why do you feel it is important for alumni & donors to stay engaged/connected with FIU?
FIU has come so far in just the last decade, it is only going to go further. Be part of making history by staying engaged and connected. Lets not forget where we came from!
How did FIU prepare you to get where you are professionally?
The great thing about my program in the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management is that it’s not just all theoretical studies. There is a large percentage of classes that were practical and very much to what I experienced once I was out in the work force. This helped me be prepared for what I have done in every role I’ve had.
What advice would you give to students and young alumni?
Get involved! This does not just apply to the time you are in school, it continues for life. You become part of something greater; a leader for those around you now, those that came before you and those that will come after you.
