Late last month, FIU alumna Ganavya Doraiswamy ’12 was profiled in The New York Times upon the release of her new LP, “Daughter of a Temple.” Ganavya is a vocalist, composer and bandleader. This new album is a collaboration with 30 different artists of jazz and experimental music. The Times praised the album, saying it has “the air of an intimate field recording steeped in gospel, ambient and South Asian devotional music, not unlike Alice Coltrane’s ambient works of the late 1970s and early ’80s.”
