\n\"\"What do you love most about FIU and your involvement here?
\n<\/strong>FIU is a multicultural campus with many memorable experiences for me. My first advisor, Mrs. Albertini, walked me through FIU’s assistance program and the\u00a0Latin American Scholarship Program of American Universities (LASPAU), which made it possible for me to complete school.<\/span><\/p>\n

What advice would you give to a potential donor who is considering investing in FIU?
\n<\/strong>Giving back is important because it allows students to realize their dreams.\u00a0<\/span>Your gift\u00a0would help students who need to complete their program and any form of assistance goes a long way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Where has life taken you since graduating from FIU?<\/strong>
\n<\/b><\/span>Life has taken me many places. To the International Law Enforcement Academy in San Salvador where I earned a certificate in Intervention Strategies for Domestic Violence. I completed psychosocial training for children who have experienced disasters in Grenada. I served as an Instituto Interamericano del Ni\u00f1o (IIN) representative for St. Lucia,\u00a0which served as my\u00a0training for opportunities overseas. <\/span>I was the former Acting Director of the Division of Human Services in St. Lucia and later served as Senior Field Social Worker. I became Acting Manager for New Beginnings Transit Home in St. Lucia, a residential facility for children who have been exposed to neglect\/abandonment. I earned\u00a0a certificate in HIV\/Health Management from the University of the West Indies and took part in technical skills training on human trafficking. <\/span><\/p>\n

Today, I am a\u00a0part-time social worker at\u00a0Victoria Hospital. I also assist\u00a0with research for the\u00a0Latin American Public Opinion Project (LAPOP). I am an active member of the St. Lucia Association of Social Workers. I have a beautiful 10-year-old daughter named Miracle and am hoping to commence doctoral studies at FIU.<\/span><\/p>\n

What advice would you give to students and young alumni?
\n<\/b><\/span>Students, be dedicated to your studies. If I had to do it again, I would, again and again, be an FIU student. Also, remember to give back to the community when you graduate.<\/p>\n
