The 2014 Legislative Session is now entering its fourth week, and the House and Senate are vigorously working to pass legislation and craft their respective budgets.\u00a0 In the coming weeks, each Chamber will approve a budget and later, the two will enter the Conference process to negotiate and agree on one budget that can be signed into law by the Governor. \u00a0As a state university, this is important to FIU because nearly $268 million of our funding comes from the state.\u00a0 We are closely monitoring the budget process and working with our local Legislators to ensure that FIU receives its fair share of state dollars.<\/p>\n
