A rescue excavation was conducted immediately by the Israel\u00a0Antiquities Authority, revealing a mosaic floor that measures approximately 50 feet long by 27\u00a0feet wide. This large and extraordinarily detailed mosaic\u00a0floor has only recently been carefully\u00a0removed from its site and conserved. Dating to approximately the 3rd century CE, the opulent\u00a0mosaic graced the floor in a reception hall of a private home. The panels portray exotic beasts\u00a0as well as an abundant and\u00a0rich marine scene.<\/p>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"755.9799999999998\">\n<p>Previously exhibited at the Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg; The Metropolitan Museum of\u00a0Art, New York; The Field Museum, Chicago; Mus\u00e9e du Louvre, Paris; and, most recently and Cini\u00a0Foundation in Venice.
