Gift names\u00a0the Moss School of Construction, Infrastructure and Sustainability<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Chad Moss, executive vice president of Moss & Associates, announced a $10 million gift through Moss Foundation, Inc.\u00a0to FIU\u2019s College of Engineering & Computing \u2013 the largest donation by an alumnus to date.<\/p>\n

\u201cChad Moss has shown incredible vision and entrepreneurship in Miami and across the country,\u201d said FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg. \u201cThis generous and history-making donation will help us educate a new generation of construction professionals who will have an impact on our community and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n

In recognition of his gift, announced at Saturday\u2019s Torch Awards Gala<\/a>, FIU\u2019s College of Engineering & Computing will name the school as the Moss School of Construction, Infrastructure and Sustainability. With more than half of the world\u2019s population living in urban environments, the school\u2019s naming coincides with the academic reorganization of the school, reflecting a broader view of the industry and new approaches and methods for building sustainable urban infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe in the power of giving,\u201d said Moss, who graduated from FIU in 1994 with a bachelor\u2019s degree in construction management. \u201cI hope this gift leads to generations of students who are curious, passionate about learning, and equipped to provide innovative solutions to the industry challenges of the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the Torch Awards, FIU honored Moss, whose company is an industry leader across all areas of construction management, as Alumnus of the Year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are inspired by how Mr. Moss\u2019 dedication and talent elevate our university\u2019s mission of service. We know that FIU alumni will continue to follow in Chad\u2019s footsteps,\u201d said George Corton, FIU\u2019s associate vice president of development.<\/p>\n
