The results are in: 673 alumni and other Panther family members from 23 states banded together last week to support our FIU on 305 Give Day<\/a> 2021!<\/p>\n

The annual event encourages alumni to give in the spirit of \u201cThe 305\u201d on March 5 (3\/05) \u2013 a day many Miamians affectionately consider Miami\u2019s holiday.<\/p>\n

The second-annual 305 Give Day brought in a total of $65,177 for emergency assistance funds, first-generation and other student scholarships, programming at FIU\u2019s colleges and schools, and more. It also surpassed last year\u2019s donor record by nearly 140 donors.<\/p>\n

\u201cFIU 305 Give Day is a great way for alumni to show what FIU and our city means to us,\u201d said Tom Jelke \u201990, who pledged to match donations to the SigEp Alumni Scholarship Fund up to $1,000. \u201cI was so proud to see so many FIU SigEp brothers and alumni make gifts to support the university we love. We are proud to be the first Greek organization to step up to make a [matching] challenge, and I look forward to seeing other Greek organizations follow suit for next year\u2019s FIU 305 Give Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

While making an impact in the lives of Panthers is always the main goal of alumni giving, 305 Give Day and other alumni-focused campaigns don\u2019t just raise funds for the university \u2013 they also boost alumni participation at FIU, a metric measured by U.S. News & World Report<\/em> in its widely cited annual university rankings. As the university continues to rise in rankings and reputation, so rises the value of the FIU degrees alumni hold.<\/p>\n

“I’m proud to see my fellow alumni showing up for FIU on 305 Give Day \u2013 and every day!” said FIU Alumni Association President Michael Hernandez ’04, MPA ’11. “We’re making a real difference for Panthers with every dollar we give, every year.”<\/p>\n
