Alumna\u00a0Crystal-Lee Naomi is making a name for herself in her dream career \u2014 acting. She’s\u00a0<\/span>worked on Tyler Perry\u2019s “<\/span>Sistas”\u00a0as well as “<\/span>Criminal Minds”.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Most recently,\u00a0<\/span>Naomi starred in the hit thriller “<\/span>Twisted House Sitter”\u00a0(THS) on the streaming platform Tubi. The film was such a success that the platform released a sequel \u2014\u00a0“<\/em><\/span>Twisted House Sitter 2″ \u2014<\/em><\/span><\/i>\u00a0featuring acclaimed actor Vivica A. Fox.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited for the success of THS on Tubi,\u201d Naomi said. \u201cAlicia is my first lead role so I\u2019m honestly beside myself at how well she\u2019s been received by audiences. I\u2019m obsessed with anti-heroes and pleasantly surprised at how people have embraced her anti-hero story!\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Naomi was encouraged to act from an early age by her mom, but didn\u2019t begin taking classes until she was older. During her time at FIU, she studied journalism at\u00a0the College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts’ Lee Caplin School Journalism & Media.<\/a>\u00a0That’s’ where she gained a deep understanding of the power of storytelling and how gathering facts can be used to create compelling narratives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMoviemaking is also storytelling,\u201d Naomi said. \u201cSo, to play a character, you gather the facts of the character, then build from there, adding on the emotional layers to the character, like why a particular fact bruises the character\u2019s ego, or how another fact sends the character into a depressed state. In an indirect and unique way, my time studying to be a journalist at FIU has helped me to also become a performer.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
