FIU is among the top 20 universities in the nation in Washington Monthly\u2019s annual\u00a0College Guide and Rankings<\/a>, which recognize universities for both research excellence and their efforts to ensure the success of students of all backgrounds.<\/p>\n

The rankings\u00a0rate four-year institutions on their commitment to three goals:<\/a>\u00a0social mobility, public service, and research. FIU ranked 19th<\/sup>\u00a0among all universities and 6th<\/sup>\u00a0among public universities. It is the No. 1 university in Florida.<\/p>\n

This ranking is particularly significant because the Florida Board of Governors includes the ranking among its criteria for recognizing a state university as\u00a0preeminent<\/a>.<\/p>\n

FIU is in the top 20 with Ivy League and other prestigious schools, with Harvard and Stanford topping the list.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we close out our 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary year, we are thrilled that our laser focus on student success and research excellence is attracting national attention and accolades,\u201d said FIU President Kenneth A. Jessell. \u00a0\u201cWe have the faculty, staff and students with the talent and determination in place to build on this success and catapult us to new heights. This is what\u00a0f<\/strong>orward-thinking,\u00a0i<\/strong>nnovative,\u00a0u<\/strong>nstoppable looks like.\u201d<\/p>\n

The latest rankings join a list of milestone FIU achievements over the past year. In June,\u00a0FIU earned the highest score in the State University System\u00a0<\/a>, according to the Florida Board of Governors\u00a0performance-based funding (PBF) metrics<\/a>. In fall 2022, FIU became the fastest\u2013rising university in U.S. News & World Report\u2019s public university rankings, jumping 62 spots in a decade. Then, in May, FIU Law climbed 38 spots to rank No. 60 among the nation\u2019s law schools \u2013 and No 32 among public schools \u2013 according to U.S. News and World Report. That puts FIU Law among the top three law schools in the state.<\/p>\n

Degree Choices also ranked FIU No. 8 nationally for students\u2019 return on investment, based on the cost of attending and the earnings a student can expect. FIU continues its trajectory as a destination university. This fall, FIU welcomed its largest freshman class in history.
