There\u2019s no such thing as a dream job. The mentality of \u201cif I was just doing ___, then I\u2019ll be happy\u201d is not only untrue, but dangerous thinking.<\/p>\n
Why? Because it\u2019s a hypothetical. It lives in the future. It\u2019s not reality.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s a lot of pressure that you are putting on yourself.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s a lot of power you are putting into a job.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s precarious thinking; always looking to the future and not being in the present.<\/p>\n
It puts our blinders up: to think the only path is that \u201cdream job\u201d path and makes us miss other opportunities that come our way.<\/p>\n
There is no such thing as a dream job.<\/p>\n
I a had dream job. I attained it. It was everything I desired and at the place I wanted to work.<\/p>\n
It wasn\u2019t a dream. It was a nightmare.<\/p>\n
It made me realize that I was wrong. I was wrong about what I wanted and why I wanted it. I was misguided, confused, and felt lost. I failed. It wasn\u2019t dreamy. It was foggy.<\/p>\n
I have always defined myself by my job. When I left my job, I thought I was going to disappear.<\/p>\n
And guess what? I didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n
I thought everything around me was going to fall apart.<\/p>\n
And guess what? It didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n
My family and friends still loved me. I still had my apartment. I had food to eat, clothes on my back, air in my lungs, a beat in my heart. I had energy, hopefulness and freedom. When the dream job was removed, my dream life was revealed.<\/p>\n
We are multidimensional, 360 degrees individuals. There are many things that makes us who we are: our personalities, skills, culture, attributes, and we have definitely have more than one thing we are passionate about.<\/p>\n
Yoga. Improv. Theater. Photography. Counseling. Marketing. Social Media. Modern Art. Those are some of my interests and passions. Each one of those passions I could say that is my dream job. Each one of those professions have different industries, lifestyles, cultures, education, skills, experience, and sacrifices that one has to go through to become successful. Each one of them would make me happy. And, ironically enough, are already a part of my life in some way.<\/p>\n
There is no such thing as a dream job, but a dream life. <\/em>Start creating and doing things now that make you happy. Happiness does not life in the future. It lives in the now. You live in the now. Make yourself happy now.<\/p>\n I am not undermining the great power of visualization, setting long term goals, the law of attraction, or the strength we have to manifest our thoughts into reality. I am speaking of giving up happiness in the present for an uncertain, hypothetical future. You have enough. You are enough.<\/p>\n Set yourself up for success. See the next steps you need to take. Network and connect with people, mentors and professionals to guide you. Do the same for others.<\/p>\n Your dream life is happening now, because it\u2019s not a dream. It\u2019s reality. You\u2019re here. You\u2019re alive, and you have the choice and power to change your thought, perspective, gratitude and actions.<\/p>\n Stop dreaming. Start awakening.
