Iris A. Elijah serves as the Associate General Counsel of Florida International University since 2018. Previously, Ms. Elijah served as the Assistant General Counsel of the State University System of Florida Board of Governors, Assistant General Counsel at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, and an Attorney Fellow at Florida International University. As counsel for Florida International University and the State University System of Florida Board of Governors, Ms. Elijah was the first African-American to serve in that role.
Ms. Elijah is a graduate of Florida International University College of Law and the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Africana Students and Bachelor of Arts of Economic. Ms. Elijah is an active member of several legal and civic organizations including the Miami Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Florida Association of Women Lawyers Board of Directors, The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors, Big Bend Cares Board of Directors, and several Florida Bar committees.
