Dr. Pablo Ortiz is the Vice President of Florida International University. Before this position, he was an educator for Miami-Dade County Public Schools for more than 24 years as a teacher, principal, provost, and Associate Superintendent. As Provost, he transformed Miami Edison Senior High School from an “F” to a “B” school for the first time in its history and led the most dramatic three-year turnaround in Florida. He has been honored as the district’s only two-time MDCPS Principal of the Year and named recipient of the 2012-2013 Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership. He was promoted to Associate Superintendent in 2012 to spearhead the Educational Transformation Office.

Dr. Ortiz earned his A.A. at Miami-Dade College and was recently inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. He finished his B.S. in Education (’91) at FIU and earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
