Biography

Dr. Ghazaleh Azimi is a senior Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer at AtkinsRéalis. In this role, she works on designing major infrastructure projects, not only in Florida but across the US. She is known for her strategic insights and ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical solutions that address real-world challenges in transportation infrastructure. Her leadership and vision continue to shape the future of ITS, paving the way for more efficient, sustainable, and interconnected transportation systems globally.  

Ghazaleh’s expertise in ITS reflects her dedication to advancing the field and addressing complex transportation challenges. Through her research and project implementations, she has pioneered cutting-edge solutions that integrate technology into transportation systems, improving traffic flow, reducing congestion, and enhancing overall mobility. Her innovative approaches have garnered recognition from peers and stakeholders alike, further solidifying her reputation as a leader in the field. 

Before starting his career, she earned her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from FIU in 2022. Her research at FIU has resulted in more than 30 publications in reputable journals and conferences and garnered widespread recognition for its impact on the field. In addition to her scholarly achievements, she has been honored with multiple awards, underscoring her dedication and excellence in both research and professional practice. 

Beyond her professional achievements, Ghazaleh actively engages with her community, sharing her knowledge and passion for transportation engineering. She mentors aspiring engineers, fosters collaborations with local agencies and organizations, and advocates for sustainable and equitable transportation policies. Her commitment to education and outreach ensures that her expertise extends beyond project boundaries, enriching the broader community.
