Biography
Gerrod Bodie is a dynamic leader, entrepreneur, and community builder with over two decades of experience across project management, education, civic engagement, and youth development in South Florida. A proud 3x alumnus of Florida International University, Gerrod was inducted into the prestigious FIU Alumni Hall of Fame in 2023 in recognition of his outstanding professional success and lasting contributions to the Miami-Dade community.
Raised in Miami after losing his mother at age five to gun violence, Gerrod was adopted by his grandmother, Dorothy Lester, who grounded him in faith and family. Despite early adversity and time in the foster care system, Gerrod became a first-generation college graduate and part of FIU Football’s inaugural team.
As a trusted consultant and strategist, Gerrod has led high impact initiatives for various public and private entities and stakeholders. His expertise spans capital improvement projects, owner’s representation, community partnerships, and nonprofit development.
Beyond his professional work, Gerrod is deeply committed to his church, advocacy, mentorship, and equity. He is a vocal champion for underserved youth and families, and a respected voice in both civic and faith-based spaces. Whether leading grassroots efforts or advising at the executive level, he brings a value-driven approach rooted in integrity, service, and vision.

A proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. for over 21 years, Gerrod lives by the principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift. The only member of the fraternity to be recognized as a Charter Member of an Undergraduate(2004) and Graduate Chapter (2020).
A man of many firsts; from inaugural teams to graduating classes, Gerrod Bodie continues his resiliency! With a new profession in Engineering, without warrant he quiets the naysayers. His unwavering dedication to community, combined with a foundation of engineering precision and strategic insight, ensures that his impact resonates far beyond his professional achievements, shaping a stronger, more equitable South Florida for generations to come.
