Biography

Singer-Songwriter | Recording Artist | Producer

From Miami to Nashville, Ana Cristina Cash ’10 has built a career defined by artistry, authenticity, and a remarkable ability to move between cultures.

Born and raised in Miami to Cuban parents, Cash began performing at just six years old on Sábado Gigante. By 15, she had signed with Sony Music Latin and released her debut Spanish-language album, Ana Cristina, beginning a musical journey that would eventually take her from South Florida to some of the nation’s most celebrated stages.

Her powerful vocals have earned her opportunities to perform at the 2005 Presidential Inaugural Ball and a White House Hispanic Heritage celebration. After relocating to Nashville, Cash continued to evolve as an artist, bringing together the country, Americana and Latin influences that have shaped her life and music.

At the historic Cash Cabin Studio, she has recorded projects including The Tough Love EP, My Christmas Collection, and her 2020 album, Shine, which features never-before-heard lyrics by Johnny Cash. She made her Grand Ole Opry debut in 2019 and co-wrote a Spanish-language version of “Folsom Prison Blues,” recorded by Los Tigres del Norte for a Latin Grammy-winning project. In 2025, she signed a worldwide publishing agreement with BMG, continuing to expand her work as a bilingual songwriter and recording artist.

Through each chapter of her career, Cash has remained connected to the cultures and experiences that shaped her, from her Cuban-American upbringing in Miami to a career that has taken her to stages across the country. Her work reflects the creativity, perseverance, and sense of purpose at the heart of the Panther Portrait Series.

In November 2025, FIU Alumni honored Cash as the inaugural subject of the series, unveiling her portrait alongside family, friends and university leadership in celebration of her journey, her artistry and the many ways she carries FIU into the world.

Today, her portrait is permanently displayed at FIU — a lasting recognition of one Panther and a reflection of what Panthers everywhere can become.
